Where have you travelled to in Queensland?
Oh gosh, where do I start?
Port Douglas, Cairns, Atherton Tablelands, Fitzroy Island, Mt Isa, Lawn Hill, Julia Creek, Rockhampton, Yeppoon, Great Keppel Island, 1770, Agnes Waters, Bundaberg, Lady Elliott Island, Hervey Bay, Fraser Island, Stanthorpe, Lockyer Valley, Brisbane, Moreton Island, South Stradbroke Island, all up and down the Gold and Sunshine Coasts.
To start, here’s our list of 40 things to do in Queensland.
I’ve visited lots of places but not nearly enough!
What was your most memorable trip?
I couldn’t possibly pick one! They are all unique and offer something different. The last one was Outback Queensland.
We flew into Mt Isa, drove five hours northwest to Lawn Hill then from Lawn Hill another seven hours southeast to Julia Creek.
After that, there was a three-hour drive back from Julia Creek to Mt Isa.
The whole trip took five days with lots of stopping to take pictures.
Most memorable experience?
I have so many memorable experiences.
Whale watching in Hervey Bay is always spectacular and a hot air balloon ride at sunrise is magic.
Jet skiing from Fraser Island to Pelican Banks was awesome too!
Where would you take your mum?
Oooh that’s a good question… probably the Lockyer Valley or one of the hinterlands. We’d just go on a retreat and get pampered and enjoy fresh local produce.
Beach or desert?
Funnily enough, I love them both! I get just as excited to be heading inland, as I get heading to a Queensland island.
Ok I’m a foodie so this is impossible to answer! I’ll share some of my much-loved restaurants and why.
1-Pearl Cafe in Woolloongabba – best coffee in Brisbane
2-Little Larder in New Farm – savoury mince, enough said!
3-Flour & Chocolate Patisserie in Morningside – amazing treats and they have special days like Wednesday is donut day!
4-Gordita in Fortitude Valley – tapas to die for & great for a catch up with your girlfriends
5-Ten Japanese Restaurant in Broadbeach – fresh, delicious and the drinks list is huge!
6-Indulge Cafe in Bundaberg – one of the best breakfasts going round anywhere in Queensland
I could keep going…
Currimundi Lake on the Sunshine Coast holds a lot of good memories for me, I love to go there. I think the fact I shot one of my favourite sunsets at Currimundi Lake also helps.
I know it’s more a city than a town but I really like Brisbane.
The city has really grown and come into its own.
If you had to move to somewhere else in Queensland where would go?
Probably somewhere on the Sunshine Coast.
I just love the vibe and its close enough to jump in the car to Brisbane if you need to.
Most romantic place?
Haven’t been there yet!
I’ve been to lots of beautiful places but I think I’m still to find the most romantic place.
When things get too much where do you go to get away from it all?
Home in Brisbane.
There’s nothing quite like the comfort of home. I also like to go somewhere I can’t get a phone signal, whether that’s in a rainforest or a country town.
Stephanie’s is lovely but I need to try a lot more to be able to really say.
