If you’re looking for a luxury hotel in Sydney that is close to the city but doesn’t have the feel of a large international chain, Larmont Sydney fits the bill. Larmont Sydney by Lancemore (which used to be the Diamant Hotel) is one of six hotels in under the Lancemore Group umbrella.
Where is Larmont Sydney?
You’ll find it in the building behind the well-known Coca-Cola sign at the end of William Street.
Actually, the location of Larmont Sydney is in a great spot for a weekend away as it’s near cafes, restaurants and boutiques.
The hotel is also close enough to Sydney’s CBD you could walk to the business district and other attractions, such as the Royal Botanic Gardens, Sydney Opera House and The Rocks.
First impressions of Larmont Sydney
The foyer is minimalist and bare, with white walls, contemporary furnishings and glass.
Boutique or big?
Although Larmont Sydney occupies several levels of a high-rise building, it’s really a boutique hotel. The hotel has 76 rooms and suites.
Why should I stay at Larmont Sydney?
It’s in a great location if you’re in town to party. Kings Cross has plenty of distractions after the sun goes down.
One of few boutique accommodation options that welcome your furry friends, Larmont Sydney by Lancemore is a pet-friendly hotel.
What about the rooms?
There are Standard, Deluxe, Executive and Courtyard rooms and two kinds of suites. Rooms have free WiFi, iPads, King-sized beds and 42″ plasma TVs.
I stayed in the spacious Boulevard Suite, which has a separate living area, a well-stocked mini bar and a marvellous view of William Street. The view was especially mesmerising to at night. With this kind of action who needs TV?
My bed was extremely comfortable, with down pillows and a Microcloud topper. The suite is in the lineup for a makeover as part of a major renovation that is expected to be completed by the end of 2016.
Due to the location of the hotel, I had expected it to be a lot noisier but the suite was unexpectedly quiet and I wasn’t bothered by traffic noise at all.
Home away from home?
Choose a one-, two- or three-bedroom apartment for a bright and airy home away from home with all the facilities of a luxury apartment along with stunning views.
What’s there to eat at Larmont Sydney?
The hotel’s restaurant, Savour, is a cosy space on the ground floor that dishes up a Turkish-inspired menu with vibrant flavours of the Mediterranean.
