La Pazis a low-rise city with the cathedral and a few hotels poking their heads up.
It is definitely not Cabo, and that’s the way the locals like it and why we liked it. Mexico in general isn’t the bargain it used to be—where is?—but as Canadians it compared with prices at home.
We visited El Coromuel beach twice. Balandra post Covid has rules governing the number of people and Tecolote is a challenge to get to if like us you don’t have a car. But Ubers are real cheap.
A shout out to Allende Books, an English language bookstore where the attentive Sylvie is happy to chat. We even played and sang with a group of geezer guitarists who meet every Saturday at 1pm. Very welcoming group 😄
The fact that it’s difficult to get to with no Canadian airlines flying in meant we had to absorb the extra expense of hiring a car and driver from Day Trip. But it was worth it to have met Jose who could not have been more courteous and informative. Through him we were so fortunate to attend an amazing choir concert in the cathedral. Never to be forgotten.
Despite the challenge of getting there, we loved the place and the people. We are already planning to return, this time for a bit longer.

Stayed in L.P. in February during the Carnival: lots of people, entertainment/music and all types of food sold along the length of Malecon every evening. Felt very safe anywhere I went.
Daily excursions to Balandra/El Tecolote and hiking the surrounding hills were a highlight.
Temperatures in mid 20s C; water in the ocean pleasant enough to enjoy a swim.

Vibrant seaside city in Baja Sur - with a low key atmosphere and a multitude of options for dining, entertainment and outdoor activities. A complete respite from Cabo and a much more authentic taste of Mexico. The waterfront malecon is the focus of the community and offers exceptional views (and sunsets) while the city and old town offer much to explore.
Beautiful beaches and numerous watersports to take advantage of in the immediate area. A great base for world class snorkeling/diving, wildlife (whales, whale sharks, sea lions) and adventure (hiking, sand boarding, ATV's, etc.)

La Paz was a really pleasant surprise.
La Paz was a really pleasant surprise. I hadn't done too much research before our travels, but found everything about the city to be simply delightful. The Malecon is amazing, and there seems to be some really interesting food, drink, art, music and culture for everyone - not just tourists. We really loved the energy of the whole town - with beautiful pristine beaches and amazing desert landscapes just a few minutes (by car!) away. We can't wait to come back.

I travels in May when the days are pretty hot, but the mornings and evenings are cool. People come out to exercise on the Malecon in the earlier mornings and families are out in the evenings enjoying the sea breeze.

We spent 5 nights in La Paz and 4 nights in San Jose del Cabo but we were sad to leave La Paz and thought we should have stayed longer there. We found it is a very peaceful city, with a cute city center, colorful houses, people are pretty welcoming and it is easy to chat with them, there are also many good restaurants with still correct prices, and wonderful beaches not too far. It is recommended to rent a car to move around. Next trip we will probably just stay in La Paz as it has everything we are looking for.
A beautiful property in a great location. Just minutes away from the boardwalk and main strip but not right near all the activity. The old colonial style is really well done with beautiful heavy wooden furniture everywhere. We spent several evenings on the terrace reading and enjoying the sunset. We were very comfortable here during our stay in La Paz and would come again. Plenty of street parking right near by. Staff were friendly, helpful, and accommodating. Breakfast was also excellent.
The location of Marea La Paz is well off the beaten path, but so worth it. It's out of the hustle of La Paz proper and within walking distance to an excellent local restaurant that we enjoyed several times.
The grounds are lovely. Artistic, inviting, very well-maintained and welcoming. The breakfast was amazing; the selections were wonderful and all of the staff were friendly and very professional. We thought the value was very good for such a lovely little gem of a hotel.
This hotel is just lovely, and we couldn't have been happier with our stay. It's centrally located in the middle of all the seaside activity in La Paz and yet a quiet, clean refuge once you walk into the courtyard/lobby. We got a two bedroom suite which was actually on three floors, which was a nice surprise. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting La Paz.
It was perfect spot for a family with 4 and 8 year old kids. I wanted to do scuba diving and while kids are playing at the beach right front our room (only 3 min of walk) I had a great time diving, I saw sea lion ! The crew was nice too!
There are playground next to the hotel as well! The best part was of course the sunset view. I will definitely come back again!
The full breakfast was wonderful. Also, it was nice to have beach towels available from the front desk. Noise was a problem our first night with music blaring nearby until 4 am. However, the second night it was quiet. Restaurants and the Malecon are within walking distance. La Paz has everything you could need. I loved the art work on the walls at this hotel.
Luisa is like a fairy godmother who has created a sanctuary in La Paz. Beautifully designed, the rooftop terrace will be amazing once built. Lovely conversation, incredible breakfast (accommodating of food intolerances), thoughtful details like beach supplies (chairs, umbrella) and the best recommendations. Highly recommend staying here.
The owners of the apartment are one of the kindest people I have met in Mexico! They were very nice and helping, they gave us many recommendations for things to do in La Paz or around Baja California Sur. The apartment is bigger than it looks on pictures and was very clean! I would definitively come back if I stay in La Paz again :)
Clean spacious two bedroom suite for a very good price. Free parking in front of the hotel. Decent restaurant on site.
Initially the location seemed a bit far from central district however this turned into a plus as the hotel is right on the Malecon while still being removed from busier areas.
This is a great little boutique hotel. There's 5 rooms and they are all really nice, modern and cozy. The staff are excellent and the owner is super friendly and happy to make your stay a great time. Location is walking distance to the malacon sea walk and lots of great restaurants and bars.
Nothing it's in a rubbish location with dirty pool water ,rude staff and pig ignorant kitchen staff who serve yak slop that is only good for the bin , stay in the centre where the fun is .it's cheap cos it's dreadful .you are on holiday enjoy a good hotel instead
Great location in La Paz. Apartment is well equipped, large and very comfortable. Great ocean view from large balcony and master bedroom. Host was very helpful and friendly. Pools and fitness room also face the ocean.
Location was amazing. The room layout and finishing were emasculate. Building was extremely safe. Right across from the La Paz sign right on the Malecon with a stunning ocean view.
La perla is a big apartment at walking distance from La Paz cathedral and the Malecón. The apartment is not new but has all commodities you need for a comfortable stay.
The pool area is beautiful, with a great barkeeper and amazing cocktails and the breakfast is one of the best I have had in a hotel. Excellent service all around!
Location was very close to the waterfront. Able to Walk to cafes, restaurants. Malecon, marina. Neigh bourhood is a little rough (as is much of la Paz)
