Three Days in the Thompson Okanagan
with Jennifer Schell
There’s so much to pack in and so many places to visit that this schedule would only represent a small portion of places to visit in the Thompson Okanagan.
Day 1 – Oliver
Wineries to visit are Fairview Cellars, Checkmate pop-up tasting room and Vin Amite. Have lunch at Burrowing Owl or Desert Hills and dinner at Terrafina at Hester Creek Estate Winery.
If you have an extra day, spend it touring nearby Similkameen valley wineries. The mountainscape is dramatic and wines are excellent!
Don’t miss Orofino, Rustic Roots, Correlates and organic leaders Forbidden Fruit Wines & Close du Soleil. Enjoy strolling around the vineyards and visiting the plentiful fruit and veggie stands.
*Hester Creek Estate Winery and Burrowing Owl also offer beautiful lodging!
Day 2 – Naramata
Drive to Naramata for the night and visit Upper Bench Winery & Creamery, La Frenz Winery, lunch at Lake Breeze Winery, Legend Distilling, JoieFarm and have dinner at Front Street Brasserie.
Take a walk along the lake, maybe choose to go on a bike tour and do visit the VQA Penticton Wine Centre to get a full perspective on the stunning range of wines produced in the Okanagan.
Here are some other Penticton attractions.
*Check out Forgotten Hill B & B in Naramata – they have great food and are also a small lot winery!
Day 3 – Kelowna
Drive to Kelowna for the night.
Plan to visit: Quails’ Gate Winery, Summerhill Pyramid Organic Winery, SpierHead Winery.
Make time for lunch and wine tasting at Mission Hill Estate Winery, wine tasting and dinner at Quails’ Gate Winery.
Make a pit stop at the Okanagan Lavender Farm. When in the SpierHead neighbourhood, do make time to walk along the lake downtown, grab a coffee at Bean Scene or a gelato at GioBean.
If you have time, rent kayaks at the Delta Grand. In the morning, hike up beautiful Knox Mountain to get a great view of Kelowna.
*Plan to book a place on the lake like the Delta Grand or Manteo or The Eldorado so you can get as much lake view time as possible.
Here are more things to do in Kelowna too.
