If you’re interested in sustainable travel, consider Reflections Holiday Parks next time you plan a holiday in NSW. Reflections is the first holiday park group in Australia to achieve certification as a social enterprise is a profit-for-purpose organisation that showcases the state’s stunning natural beauty while protecting and preserving the areas in which its 36 holiday parks are located.
Social enterprises are businesses whose primary focus is to solve social problems, improve communities and help the environment. Reflections Holiday Parks reinvests all profits back into the 9,289 hectares of NSW Crown land it manages. In the 2022 financial year, this amounted to $9.1 million, which was spent on improvements to 36 holiday parks and 43 reserves, many of which are off the beaten track in rural settings or wild coastal areas.
The group supports local economies across NSW through a range of projects, including preserving flora and fauna habitats and encouraging guests to use local businesses and local tour operators. In Australia, social enterprise certification is provided by Social Traders, a body that encourages businesses to be guided by a social purpose and to exist to benefit the public, community and environment, thus reinvesting most of their profits for this purpose. I recently had the opportunity to stay at two Reflections Holiday Parks while on a family holiday with my husband and our two West Highland White Terriers.

Reflections Holiday Parks Urunga
Reflections Holiday Park Urunga has a lovely setting beside the Urunga lagoon, spacious riverfront parkland and an impressive boardwalk that passes along the banks of the Kalang River all the way out to the ocean.
Walking the entire length of the boardwalk is something you must do at least once. It’s wheelchair accessible and you can walk your dog along the boardwalk to the pet-friendly beach area.
Other beaches in the area are North Beach, the longest, Hungry Head Beach and Bonville Beach.
The laidback village of Urunga has a decent café, chemist, two convenience stores where you can buy groceries and pub.
What’s new
There’s a new $2 million cabin precinct with seven solar-powered two-bedroom premium eco-cabins.
Accommodation
Reflections Holiday Parks Urunga has large flat sites for tents and caravans and extra-large powered sites.
If you’re not camping or caravanning, there are 29 cabins.
We stayed two nights in a dog-friendly Standard Cabin with a river view.
It had two bedrooms – one with a double bed and the other with a ¾ bed and single bunk on top.
This cabin would suit a family of four.; with two adults and two Westhighland White Terriers, there was ample room for all of us.
The tiled floors are great in case of accidents when travelling with excited puppies. Both dogs were happy with the accommodation, and after a good sniff, they picked their favourite spots.
Spicey (the nine-year-old female) made it clear that she would be sleeping in the large soft bed we had brought along and Bailey was happy to sleep in the smaller dog outside our bedroom.
There was a covered barbeque area conveniently located right outside our door and plenty of space to walk the dogs on leash easily.

Powered sites
Powered camping or caravan sites with concrete slabs are available on request.
Standard cabins
Standard cabins are comfortable and equipped with a Queen bed, a fully equipped kitchen, bathroom, microwave, air-conditioning, flat-screen TV and free WiFi.
There’s a dining cum lounge area and an undercover verandah where you can chill out with a cuppa and a good book.
Standard cabins come in different sizes to accommodate two, four or six people. The four and six-person options are dog friendly.
Deluxe cabins (dog friendly)
Deluxe cabins have all the amenities of the standard cabin, with contemporary décor and furnishings and undercover wrap-around verandas.
They have two bedrooms – one with a queen bed and the other with a ¾ bed and a single bunk above.
Superior cabins
Superior cabins are larger and can sleep five. They have contemporary furnishings with two bedrooms – one with a Queen bed and the other with a double bed.
The internal bathroom has double sinks, which are handy for families. There is a fully equipped kitchen, an open-plan living area and a veranda with lovely views.
Premium cabins
The newest accommodation type is their Premium Cabins, which are contemporary and artistically decorated and have indoor and outdoor dining areas, a fully equipped galley kitchen and a verandah that encourages alfresco-style dining.
There are two bedrooms – one with twin beds and a single bunk above and the other with a Queen bed – both with high-quality linen and art. Unfortunately, the Premium cabins are not pet friendly.
Things To Do
30 minutes south of Coffs Harbour on the NSW mid-north coast and 15 minutes from Bellingen, it’s a good spot to explore the Coffs Coast, from Bellingen to the Big Banana.
If you’re a golfing fan, plan a round at Bonville Golf Club (the most beautiful golf course in Australia).

Dog policy
Dogs are allowed throughout the year, except for the Christmas season from 10 December to 31 January, in certain sites and cabins but not in the superior or premium cabins.

Reflections Holiday Park Tuncurry
Reflections Holiday Parks Tuncurry offers a dedicated area for guests accompanied by dogs, and spectacular Nine Mile Beach on the doorstep, and is leash-free all day.
Large flat sites make caravanning and camping a breeze. Right next to waterside restaurants and cafes and a protected swim area.
Accommodation
Standard cabins
Standard cabins come in two-person (one-bedroom) and five-person versions and fully equipped kitchens and bathrooms. Linen is supplied, but bring your own soap.
Five-person cabins have two bedrooms, one with a queen-sized bed and one with a single bed and a set of bunk beds.
The open-plan, fully equipped kitchen and lounge area opens onto a spacious undercover verandah with outdoor furniture.
Deluxe cabins
With its modern furnishings and open-plan living area, Deluxe cabins sleep four and have high Apex-style ceilings that provide the feeling of extra space.
There are two separate bedrooms – one with a queen-sized bed and one with a single bed and a set of bunk beds.
It offers a fully equipped kitchen and a cosy living area and undercover verandah with outdoor furniture.
Things To Do
Check out the surf, wet a line in the waterways of Wallis Lake, or jump on a bike to cross the bridge to Forster with its clubs, restaurants and supermarkets.
For a beach experience, head to the Tuncurry Rock Pool to enjoy a dip in the water and a relaxed brunch in its nearby café.
The café on the waterfront is dog friendly and has an open-plan relaxed feel.
Dog policy
Dogs are allowed during off-peak and shoulder seasons. Dog-friendly choices include a two-person standard or four-person deluxe cabin if you’re travelling with your pooch.
