JQ 787 Maroochydore (Sunshine Coast) to Sydney

Travellers between Sydney and the Sunshine Coast have the option of flying in and out of the Sunshine Coast Airport in Maroochydore or Brisbane Airport, which is about a 1.5 hours away. Jetstar Australia has three to four flights a day between Sydney and the Sunshine Coast. The other option is Virgin Airlines.

When flying between Maroochydore (Sunshine Coast) and Sydney, Jetstar has the edge when it comes to the number of flights a day and price (I usually find that Jetstar is a little cheaper than Virgin Airlines for flights on the same day). Here’s my review of Jetstar, Economy Class A320 JQ 787 Maroochydore (Sunshine Coast) to Sydney.

sunshine coast airport

Sunshine Coast Airport has a tropical feel. If you didn’t know better you might think you’re in Hawaii or the South Pacific. The airport has undergone an upgrade and there’s a decent salad bar, café, newsagent and other shops.

Boarding the Jetstar flight

The takeoff was smooth and as it was a sunny day I was pleased with my window seat.

The birds-eye view of the ocean, beaches and coastline was the highlight of the flight. From the air, you can also see the growth of canal developments next to the lush hinterland.

The food

jetstar 03

As Jetstar is a budget airline, food is not included in the price of most tickets.

You can purchase hot and cold drinks, hot food, sandwiches, snacks and alcohol on board.

Expect to pay between A$6 and $8 for a meal. A bottle of water costs $3 and a small bottle of wine is $7.
