Divided into nine island groups, Viti Levu, Vanua Levu, Taveuni, Rotuma, Kadavu, Yasawa, Mamanuca, Lau and Lomaiviti, finding the best Fiji beaches is a task that could take forever.

There’s a beach in Fiji to match your every mood, whether you’re looking for white sand and lush rainforest backdrops or an underwater technicolour spread of soft coral. Some beaches are exclusive and private, while others offer a blend of adventure and culture. The most accessible beaches are in Viti Levu, the Mamanuca Islands and Yasawa Islands. 1- Natadola Beach

Whether it’s your first time or ninth if you want to hit the beach as soon as you arrive without venturing too far, head to Natadola Beach in Sigatoka.

Natadola Beach offers soft sand and a scenic location with gentle waves for family-friendly swimming.

There are plenty of snorkelling spots off the beach, with varied tidal levels revealing new things to explore.

2- Beqa Island

A 45-minute boat ride from Pacific Harbour in Viti Levu, Beqa Island is alluring to adventurous travellers.

Famed for its traditional firewalkers and world-class diving sites, this tiny island of only 15 sq km (5.7 sq miles) is a secluded tropical heaven surrounded by an extensive barrier reef.

The island hosts the first protected marine sanctuary for sharks, with a regular population of eight species.

Shark Reef Marine Reserve was established in 2004 and is a famous spot to go diving with sharks.

A popular Fijian expression, ‘na siga e dromu i Malolo’ is a Fijian saying that translates to ‘Malolo is where the sun comes to rest’.

Legend has it the gods created Malolo Island as a place where the sun always rests, making it a legendary place to enjoy some of the best beaches in Fiji.

Travellers looking for an adults-only getaway will love the beach at Likuliku Lagoon Resort, which is only available exclusively for resort guests.

The resort has authentic overwater bures built to look like a traditional village and the lagoon is a protected marine sanctuary.

6- Beachcomber Island

8- Castaway Island

Also known as Qalito Island, Castaway Island is often confused with Monuriki Island, where the film Cast Away was shot.

But unlike Monuriki, Castaway Island is a 174-acre (70 hectares) private island resort 20 km (12 miles) from Nadi Airport.

Lavena Beach came to the limelight as the filming location of the Hollywood show ‘Return to the Blue Lagoon.’

The best thing about this Fijian beach is its location in Bouma National Park, where resort development is not permitted.

The best strip of beach is at the start of the Lavena Coastal Walk, where the scenery is serene, with the ocean lapping on one side and lush rainforest growing on the other.

Pack a picnic lunch as there are no food stalls. These beaches are also affected by the tide.

Walk the forest trail to reach the waterfalls where you can swim in the jungle or just lie on the sand admiring the view.
